Importing high-resolution images is slow

Ink jet printers or laser printers produce color gradation through arrangements of dots. Consequently, the resolution when scanning need be only one third to one half the resolution when printing. If the scanning resolution is greater than one half, the file size will be larger and the printout time will be prolonged.

For instance, even if the scanner's capacity for optical resolution is 400 x 400 dpi, if you use a color ink jet or laser printer to print on postcard-size paper, you do not need to scan the image at the full optical resolution of 400 dpi.

Always be aware of the resolution that is required for printouts. Also remember that you can always reduce the resolution of a scanned image with image editing software before printing the image.

When you use a sublimation printer, which produces color gradation within each individual dot, use the same resolution setting during scanning and printing.
